- June 4, 2026 — Our paper is published in AGU Earth’s Future. We tackle a long-standing challenge: separating changes in methane sources from changes in its sinks. We develop a multi-species inverse framework that integrates observations of methane and its oxidation products to disentangle these overlapping influences. Our results show that satellite observations provide clear evidence that reductions in fossil fuel emissions can increase methane lifetime. Available here.
- May 4, 2026 — Our paper is accepted to Nature Communications. We developed a new 4D-Var inversion framework to assimilate methane and its isotopes (13CH4 and CH3D). Incorporating isotopic information leads to a redistribution of emission estimates in tropical regions. Available here.
